FAQs
Curious about counselling, coaching, or how we might work together? Here are answers to some of the questions I hear most often.
1. Are sessions online or in-person? All counselling and coaching sessions are online—making them easy to access from anywhere in BC, Alberta (for counselling), or worldwide (for coaching). We use a secure, confidential video platform so you can join from the comfort and privacy of home.
2. How do I know if counselling or coaching is right for me? If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready for positive change—whether in parenting, healing from past experiences, or personal growth—it might be a great fit. Many people (men, women, parents, and caregivers) start with a free 15-minute discovery call to explore without commitment. It's a low-pressure way to see if we connect.
3. What can I expect in our first session? Our first meeting is relaxed and focused on you. We'll talk about what's bringing you here, your goals, and how I can support you. There's no rush—it's about creating a safe space where you feel heard and understood right from the start.
4. Do you work with men? Yes - definitely! I know there are far fewer supports out there specifically for guys, especially ones that feel practical, non-judgmental, and not overly “therapy-y.” Men deserve real, accessible help too—whether you’re dealing with burnout, parenting pressures, healing from past hurts, toxic relationships, or just feeling stuck while trying to “tough it out” or “hold it together.” I bring a strength-focused, trauma-informed approach that honors your unique experiences—no fluff, just honest listening, clear tools, and respect for your pace. Many men find this space empowering and safe, and I’m honored to walk alongside you. You’re not alone in this, and reaching out is a sign of real strength.
5. Do you offer advice, feedback or between-session actin tasks? Yes, when it aligns with your goals and comfort. My solution-focused style often includes honest reflections, practical ideas, and optional between-session tasks for faster progress. Clients frequently appreciate this real, action-oriented support, but your pace and choices always come first.
6. How much do sessions cost? Fees vary by service. You'll find current rates and package details under the Rates & Insurance tab. I believe in transparency, so everything is clear before you commit.
7. What is your cancellation policy? I kindly ask for 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or no-shows are charged the full session fee, as that time is reserved just for you. Life happens though...if something comes up, just let me know and we'll work it out.
8. Is what I share confidential? Yes, completely. Everything we discuss is private and confidential, protected by professional ethics and secure platforms. The only exceptions are the standard legal ones (e.g., imminent harm), which I'll always explain upfront.
9. What are your qualifications? I'm a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor Candidate (RTCc), holding a membership with the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada (ACCT) in British Columbia and a Counselling Therapist (CT), holding membership with The Association of Counselling Therapy of Alberta (ACTA) in Alberta. I graduated from Kelowna College of Professional Counsellors with a Diploma in Applied Psychology and Professional Counselling. I also have training in trauma-informed modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Somatic Trauma Release practices. Plus, as a mom and someone who's navigated my own growth, I bring real empathy alongside professional expertise.
10. How do I get started? The easiest next step is booking a free 15-minute call through JaneApp. We'll chat about what's on your mind, answer any questions, and see if we're a good fit...no obligation at all.
